John Cena on WWE Live Blog for Night of Champions 2008

WWE Fan Nation is doing Live Blogs during WWE televised events. If you can't go to an event in person, turn on the TV and plop the laptop on the couch... blog while you watch TV! For 2008 Night of Champions, John Cena joined the Live Blog for about half an hour to answer questions from fans. Below is an excerpt of the Live Blog with Cena answering fan questions.

And I have to admit... I have enjoyed Cena but never been a die-hard fan (like Shannon is). But in the Live Blog, Cena throws in a reference to Blades of Glory... perhaps one of the most important historical comedies of our times (hehehe). I giggled with glee when I read Cena's response to whether or not he would do Tag Team division again. Comedy is a way to a gal's heart.

7:33	Corey Clayton - Thanks John for joining us today on WWE Fan Nation. Glad you could take a few minutes before your big match tonight with Triple H.

7:33	Corey Clayton - We have a ton of questions from the fans.... lets get started....

7:35	Corey Clayton - First off, many fans want to know what your mindset is going into your WWE Championship Match tonight against Triple H ... what are your thoughts just hours before you face The Game?

7:35	John Cena - Tonight has the feel of a big match. There is more electricity in the arena than there is at a normal PPV.

7:36	Corey Clayton - Question From Tonya ... First of all, good luck tonight! I love you, and I know your going to win. If you could pick one thing in your life to live over again, what would it be, and why?

7:37	John Cena - My relationship with Mickie James because it was over much too soon.

7:37	Corey Clayton - A question from Andrea....

7:37	[Comment From Andrea Williams] Cena being in the Raw brand, would you like to been drafted to a different brand?

7:38	John Cena - It doesn't really matter where Im at as long as I can do what I do.

7:39	Corey Clayton - Speaking of which, your opponent tonight was drafted to SmackDown, which now has two World Champions. Are you glad to see The Game move to SmackDown? And are you looking to win the title not just for yourself, but for Raw as well?

7:40	John Cena - It is a big night for the Raw brand as right now we have no World Champion. I personally was not happy to see Triple H get traded. He and Jim Ross just seem to belong on RAW.

7:41	Corey Clayton - Lots of fans were wondering how you personally prepare for a big match like tonight? Any superstitions? Anything to get mentally focused?

7:42	John Cena - I try to stay as relaxed as possible. I don't have any set preparation. Life moves very fast I look forward to the moment.

7:43	Corey Clayton - Here's a question about your music career from Jade...

7:43	[Comment From Jade] I love your first Cd when the next one will come?

7:44	John Cena - I have just recently recorded a single with Snoop Dogg which should be on his MySpace page. That has led to the possibility of a ten song downloadable project with myself, Snoop, Freddie Foxxx and The Dogg Pound.

7:47	Corey Clayton - Here's a question from RJ....

7:47	[Comment From RJ] Would you ever consider mov ing into the tag-team division? If so, who would you consider for partners?

7:48	John Cena - It would certainly take the right partner. I have always been a lone wolf, just like Chaz Michael Michaels. I just need to fing my Jimmy McElroy...Little Orphan Awesome.

7:49	Corey Clayton - In light of the Boston Celtics' recent NBA title win .... here's a fun question from Stevie: What can Cena do to get the Bruins up to the same level as all of Boston's other teams?

7:50	John Cena - My toughest match is always the next one.

7:52	John Cena - Absolutely not. What hurts my feelings the most is hen people don't show up. It is a fan's right to choose who they cheer and boo. All I can do is be me.

7:52	Corey Clayton - Lots of fans have questions about your upcoming film, "12 Rounds". Can you tell the fans a little about the film and what it was like to shoot a film while keeping your WWE schedule?

7:53	John Cena - The filming and scheduling was difficult but not impossible. The film itself will be an interesting story based action ride that is slightly more realistic than The Marine.

7:54	Corey Clayton - A question from Allison ...

7:54	[Comment From Allison] if you could wrestle anyone from past or present, who would you pick?

7:54	John Cena - Andre The Giant and I would pray to God that I was in his good graces.

7:55	Corey Clayton - Question from Felix: How long does your body need to recover from a match?

7:55	John Cena - About 24 hours, maybe a little less.

7:56	Corey Clayton - I know your mind is on your match tonight ... but do you have any thoughts or predictions on the big World Heavyweight Championship match tonight between Edge and Batista?

7:57	John Cena - Batista will win and the possibility looms that we will have two World Champions on RAW.

7:58	Corey Clayton - Question from B-Man: Your car collection is supposed to be extremely good. Out of your collection, which one is your favorite?

7:59	Corey Clayton - Lots of fans also asked what you would tell a young fan that wants to persue a career in the WWE? Any advice for future WWE Champions out there?

7:59	John Cena - Be prepared to work harder than you have ever worked at anything in your life.

8:00	Corey Clayton - Lots of fans ask what strategy you'll be using tonight to take the WWE Title away from Triple H? Any tactics you'd like to reveal?

8:01	Corey Clayton - At least, provided that The Game isn't reading along....

8:01	John Cena - When going up against an opponent who is simply flawless, try not to get beat quickly and look for a late mistake. Thanks everybody.

How does this affect couples? I heard Maria and CM Punk were dating while he was on ECW and she was on Raw. CM Punk was moved to Raw Monday night. Great, right? Nope, Maria just moved to Smackdown. Frustrating I'm sure. But if Batista and Melina are still dating, they must be pleased that they are now both on Raw. Congrats!

That's a lot of change. Will be interesting to watch everyone when they are all together for this weekend's Night of Champions PPV in my hometown of Big D (Dallas, TX). Outta here y'all!

WWE 2008 Draft Results and Trivial Thoughts

I had a blast waiting for all of the draft picks to be announced on last night's WWE Draft. I'm too old for all of this change though! ;) So, for the sake of being thorough, the draft results are listed towards the bottom of this entry. For the sake of getting my inane observations out of the way... here I go.

Finlay and Hornswaggle (Smackdown) vs. Santino and Carlito (Raw) – I was glad to see Hornswaggle actually wrestling and adding to the match. I've been annoyed with the angle of him hiding under the ring and laughing like Beavis and Butthead. Oh, Santino and Carlito lose. Shocker.

Randy Randy Randy!!! I am ashamed to admit that I actually jumped for joy when I saw Randy Orton. I am now a true fan of WWE and understand the joy it brings... or I guess there's a good chance I just need to get out more. Anyway, I was absolutely thrilled to see Randy and hear that he plans to be back soon.


Y2J Save Me??? I am loving this Y2J against HBK angle. Very fun. And there were four moments during the Y2J segment...

(1) Realizing that his shirt was see-through?!?! Shannon texted me to say that George Michael will be wanting his shirt back from Y2J. Hahaha!

(2) Looked like Y2J's entrance says "Save Me" instead of "Save Us" now. Very cool nuance to support the heel turn.

(3) Chris, sweetie, your hair is now two-toned with the highlights on top and dark on bottom. We don't want people to think you have a piece that you stick on before making your entrance so please have the salon blend the colors next time. Thanks.

(4) I love me some Lance Cade, but I was a tad disturbed at the end of Cade's promo with the slightly too intense admiration he expressed for Y2J. Don't go there.

Hardy Boyz are back, right??? Nope, just for one night... Matt and Jeff were a tag team again and it was very fun to watch them even though they lost to Miz and Morrison.

Great Calling... I mean Khali – I have never understood the appeal of the Great Khali, but when he started yelling strange words at the phone when the caller said "wrong number" I cracked up... he may bug me as a wrestler, but that was great comic relief.

Battle Royale – Edge won out after a long, fun-filled, 15-man Battle Royale match. I was thrilled to see Big Show in the ring, but should he be head-butting with his current injury? Be careful!!! I need to see you at Night of Champions! Call me! :)

I didn't really have much to say about the ending of the show last night... it was strange and I didn't leave feeling like Vince may have actually been injured when the set starting falling. Not sure what they're thinking. I just always wonder... what happens if he actually gets hurt in the course of filming a fake accident? Hope that never happens.

WWE Superstar Injuries: HBK? Lance Cade? Undertaker?

Ok, is there a conspiracy to injure my favorite WWE superstars? [sigh] If I wanted to see people legitimately beat the crap outta each other, I'd watch Jerry Springer re-runs (sorry, couldn't resist). I have no delusions that my opinions are important enough to warrant any such conspiracy, so moving on...

Lance Cade - According to Wrestle Zone, Lance Cade was in a dark match during the 6/9 Raw (dark as in before the TV cameras were rolling I assume) against "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson (who?). During the match, Cade appeared to have hurt his shoulder. Cade is my fave hopefully-up-and-coming heel, so please oh please let this be minor and not something that keeps him outta the ring.

HBK - According to the same article in Wrestle Zone, HBK appeared to have been genuinely hurt after Chris Jericho used HBK's head to make a statement about turning heel. Details from the live event in the article indicated "Some EMTs were brought out and his eye seemed messed up." I do remember thinking that HBK looked in actual pain, so hope there was no damage to HBK's face/eye. If he's actually hurt, I'll feel bad for having been so judgemental about that horrid tank top. Eck.

Big Show - No wrestling for my sweet big man until Night of Champions. [sniffle sniffle] (see other post)

Undertaker - After his match with Edge at One Night Stand, Undertaker's arm looked to be cut and bleeding. No word that it is anything big though. He's traveling with WWE to Australia/New Zealand so can't be too bad. Don't want him hurtin', cuz he's coming back to WWE. Power of positive thinking... Undertaker will be back... Undertaker will be back...

Randy Orton - Last Monday night Raw without Randy was... well... lacking. He's very talented and plays really well against all of the good guys (and guys we aren't quite sure are good). And... ok I'll admit... the man is just downright gorgeous. No updates on his injury on WWE.com, but Randy submitted an update via his randy-orton.com fan site to say:

i have a compression break of my left collarbone. surgery wont speed the recovery process, nor strengthen it. i will be out 2 to 3 months. pretty [expletives omitted] yes, but.... i get to witness the birth of my first born child!! you can find positive in anything!

I know there are many more great superstars with injuries and personal struggles (hang in there Jimmy Wang Yang) and I wish them all well. (William Regal - come back soon to annoy us!) Sitting here blogging from the safe comfort of my desk chair, I am thankful for all of the hard work (and pain endured) from the superstars and WWE staff that bring us these programs each week. Yeah, I know... I'm sappy.
