I was a big fan of Randy Orton's "Burn in My Light" entrance theme song by Mercy Drive... very loud straight out of the gate and fit Randy's pompous persona... yes, I choose to assume it's only a persona, k? But on the May 12 Monday Night Raw, Randy Orton debuted a new theme song, "Voices" by Rev Theory. [Read the press release]
I was stunned Randy would switch songs and I immediately started complaining. But now that I've heard the new song "Voices" a few times... including hearing it live at Judgement Day 2008 in Omaha and the following Raw in Kansas City... I must admit it is growing on me. In fact, I really like the new tune but I am already getting flack about the lyrics. Randy is my favorite heel in WWE, so my fellow-WWE-gal Shannon has already been taunting me with "Randy hears voices in his head. What do the voices tell him, Metsy?"... Sheesh.
Maybe the new theme song is a first step in a transition from Randy being just pompous to Randy being both pompous and a coo coo bird or maybe it's just a new theme song... after all, sometimes a theme song is just a theme song, right? Now, can we have someone write HBK a new theme song? Please?
